One of the most widespread applications of torsion sensors across industries is torsion monitoring in motors. These sensors help maintain performance, prevent damage by monitoring torsion limits, and ensure structural integrity. Another crucial application is in anti-lock braking systems (ABS), which prevent road incidents and are found in nearly every car worldwide. Beyond torsion monitoring, precise torque application during the smart assembly of bolts, screws, and other components helps distinguish between defective and high-quality products. Various commercial sensors can also monitor torsion in different equipment, including rotary transformers, strain gauges, magnetoelastic, and optical sensors.
RVmagnetics offers a unique solution with its magnetic glass-coated MicroWire. This micro-dimension sensor enables precise, real-time, contactless torsion monitoring. Due to its size, it can also be embedded within materials without affecting their integrity. Additionally, MicroWire withstands material deformation, allowing elongation of up to 2%.
MicroWire torsion sensors can contribute to Industry 4.0. Employ then in your product to make it smart, save money and the environment, and prolong its life.
Non-invasive torsion sensing with Seamless Integration & Real-Time Monitoring
If twisting force is applied to the pipe equipped with MicroWire, torsion is transferred to the sensor. The MicroWire operates without direct contact with the sensing device, which detects twisting force via the MicroWire’s magnetic response, processes it electronically, and displays it in real-time. It can inform not only about the intensity of applied force but also about its direction. The contactless passive sensor, capable of sensing the direction and magnitude of twisting force, is scalable according to the client’s needs and can be adjusted based on specific requirements. The system also allows for addressing more complex tasks, such as creating twisting force distribution maps along the shaft.
