Monitoring manufacturing processes and addressing the results represents an important part of a proactive maintenance strategy. It reduces manufacturers' costs and ultimately prevents unnecessary repairs. MicroWire, when implemented in a smart production process, enables maintenance planning and part replacement.
RVmagnetics offers a unique W&T sensor based on its MicroWire technology. MicroWire is a passive magnetic sensor with micro-dimensions, coated in glass for biocompatibility and resistance to harsh chemical environments. This allows it to be embedded inside objects without requiring power connections. Its small size and magnetic nature enable contactless sensing from up to 5-6 centimeters away without compromising the material's integrity.
During mass production, the sensor does not impose significant financial burdens on the client, as its small size minimizes material consumption. This enables the use of MicroWire sensors for monitoring the abrasion of highly stressed equipment as sacrificial sensors.
Industries that can employ MicroWire W&T sensors include:
Non-invasive wear and tear sensing with Seamless Integration & Real-Time Monitoring
By equipping a material, e.g. composite with a bunch of MicroWires in different layers, it creates a unique signal sensed by the data acquisition device. After the abrasion of the composite, the signal pattern changes, as individual MicroWires start to wear out and destroyed. The signal pattern change notifies the user about the individual layer being damaged. This principle could help to prevent material fatigue and prevent unnecessary repairs.
