Sensor calibration is set of tasks performed under certain conditions to establish the relationship between the physical quantity measured (as an output of a sensor) and the corresponding measurement uncertainty. Often, calibration is being conducted by comparing the measurement to a measurement of more accurate sensor (e.g. sensors with resolution and accuracy of one order higher). Calibration verifies the precision, reproducibility and reliability of measurement results. The result of calibration is typically a calibration function, curve, table or a diagram.
